Every year, we help to save hundreds of Maine Coons from abandonment, abuse and euthanasia. Some of these cats have been neglected and require vet expenses such as shots, dental care, spay and neutering and unforeseen health issues. Maine Coon Rescue restores these animals’ health before they are matched with the perfect forever home.

One of our recent rescues involved a backyard breeder. He had sold off all of his Maine Coons except for two. We received a call that the cats would be euthanized if we couldn’t take them because they had lived their entire lives in a cage with no socialization or veterinary care.

Every day we are contacted by families who can no longer care for their animals, elderly owners who cannot take their cats with them to an elderly care facility, or people who just don’t want these cats any longer. 100 percent of our funding is spent on the care, promotion, transport and placement of the cats.

There are several ways to help Maine Coon Rescue financially, including:

We are an all volunteer group, so your donations go straight to saving kitty lives.

Every cat we pull from a shelter or rescue from the streets, gets a thorough vet exam, vaccinations, testing for FIV & FeLV, a microchip and spay/neutering if they are unaltered.  Senior cats get blood work to check that their kidney and liver functions are normal.  Cats often require dental work, and many need other procedures.  Add food, litter, flea medications and de-worming, and it costs an average of $350-$750 to care for every cat we rescue.  Your support makes first-class care possible and helps ensure that cats can find a loving home.

These cats could not be placed in a no-kill shelter; it takes the loving touch of a foster to make them trust people and become loving companions. We have taken these cats in and have made them part of a loving family for the first time in their lives.

WKS! (Winstol kitten shelter) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit rescue group that specializes in saving the lives of Maine Coon mix cat/kittens from high euthanasia rate shelters and unwanted situations. Our mission is to save “Coonies” from dire situations, and we pride ourselves on doing the following:

Saving Maine Coon mix or Purebred cats/kittens from unwanted situations and high kill shelters. Providing a safe and loving foster home through to adoption.

Providing necessary veterinary care. Working with adopters and placing cats in appropriate forever homes.  Working with shelters and the public as in regards to courtesy posts to save Maine Coon cats and to enable them to find appropriate forever homes.

Being readily available to answer all questions, to provide complete adoption details, and to enable the return of any of the Maine Coon cats in our care, should an adoption fail.  Educating the public about the Maine Coon cat breed.

Providing a friendly, accessible, and good relationship with adopters, shelters, and the public.  Providing cats with a loving forever home and adopters with a permanent loving family member.

WKS (Winstol kitten shelter) operates on donations from people like you that want to help, but cannot volunteer. We are able to save and rescue Maine Coon/Maine Coon Mix cats/kittens thanks to the generous support of individuals like you. 100% of all money received will go to the care and saving of Maine Coons, and we welcome any and all donations!

By donating to OMC you can help us to continue our work in saving “Coonies”. We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization run wholly by volunteers. All donations go to the care of each cat we save and rescue.
